IMAT Title

Interface between MATLAB®, Analysis, & Test

ATA Engineering, Inc., (ATA) is pleased to announce the availability of version 3.1.0 of the IMAT™ (Interface between MATLAB®, Analysis, and Test) family of software products. IMAT is a MATLAB interface designed for test and analysis engineers who need to work with large engineering data sets. IMAT provides a framework for easily importing finite element analysis (FEA) simulation data and measured test data into the MATLAB environment to leverage MATLAB’s versatile programming, mathematical, and graphical strengths. ATA has spent over a decade expanding the methods built into IMAT to ensure that IMAT is an efficient and robust interface between MATLAB and your data.

Committed to providing new IMAT releases in conjunction with new MATLAB releases, ATA Engineering designed IMAT v3.1.0 to work with MATLAB R2010a, as well as previous releases R2009a, R2009b, R2008a, and R2008b.

IMAT PlotATA is continually improving IMAT based on customer recommendations and requests. IMAT v3.1.0 has several new capabilities, along with many customer-driven enhancements.

NEW CAPABILITIES:

Four-view display plotting (plot4views)
•    Plot mode shapes in a 4-view display.
•    Generate picture files of the display for documentation.

Faster NASTRAN file processing
•    New enhancements permit significant memory savings during import.
•    Shell stress resultants can now be processed without geometry.

Amplitude-driven plot colors
•    The included shape-plot function colors mode shapes based on shape magnitude.
•    Users can select from several different shape-coloring options.

OTHER ENHANCEMENTS:

We have replaced the “ideas_*” data types with the updated corresponding “imat_*” data types to expand the usability of our IMAT functions. Both naming conventions remain active and are interchangeable for the time being, but the “ideas_*” data types will be retired in future releases of IMAT. The new “imat_*” classes offer new features, remove obsolete data attributes, and improve consistency between methods. In addition, users can derive their own classes from these IMAT classes to add their own attributes and functionality. See Compatibility Considerations for details on transitioning from the old to the new data types.

We have reintroduced use of the external solver in the Alias Free Polyreference (AFPoly) curve-fitting GUI (for Windows platforms). This allows users to process their modal test results faster, since the external solver is highly optimized and multi-threaded.

We now support Abaqus 6.9-EF ODB files and have addressed most all of the TIER reports submitted to ATA prior to this release. We encourage customers to continue to send enhancement requests, as they help to make our product better.

IMAT PACKAGES:

IMAT: Base product, which provides capability to import and export I-deas Universal and ADF files into MATLAB for further processing. Also includes all of the data types used by the IMAT family.

IMAT+FEA: Allows user to import simulation data.
NASTRAN – Read OP2, Bulk Data, and PCH files directly.
ABAQUS – Read results from ODB files.
FEMAP – Read neutral files and connect bi-directionally to FEMAP.

IMAT+Modal: Aids in test planning and postprocessing of test data. This includes the patent-pending AFPoly modal curve-fitter.

IMAT+Signal: Extends IMAT’s functionality into signal processing, which encompasses processing time domain data into the frequency domain. It also provides capabilities for analyzing rotating equipment data using Vold-Kalman filtering.

SHORT ON MATLAB LICENSES?

ATA recently developed a sister product to IMAT called IMAT4XL. IMAT4XL combines the plotting and matrix math functions with the functionality of IMAT+FEA into an easy-to-use, graphical IMAT Logointerface that does not require MATLAB to run.
This standalone executable provides many of the same benefits as IMAT and connects directly to Microsoft Excel® for further data processing. Check out IMAT4XL and other ATA software at www.ata-e.com/software.

DOWNLOAD IMAT v3.1.0:

IMAT v3.1.0 is available to any IMAT user who is current on maintenance, enhancements and support (ME&S). There is no cost for upgrading to v3.1.0. Customers can download the latest version from http://www.ata-e.com/software/imat/. IMAT v3.1.0 no longer uses the ATAServer licensing mechanism; only the Sentinel RMS licensing is supported.

To upgrade your IMAT to version 3.1.0 or to learn more about these new features, please call Sherry at 858-480-2074, send an email to imat@ata-e.com, or visit www.ata-e.com.
